Supporting Non Profit Organizations
The Gorge Games is committed to supporting multiple community organizations, charity and non-profit groups. Listed below are some of the organizations that we are partnering with. The Next Door, Inc organization will receive 25% of the water sale proceeds. The Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute will receive 25% of donated juice sale proceeds. We are also partnering with Providence Hospital to promotion healthy choices.
The Next Door
The Next Door, Inc. is the largest social service provider in the Columbia Gorge’s 4-county, two state area. The Next Door is dedicated to helping children, families, and communities thrive in the Columbia Gorge by providing a variety of services that enable children and families to build skills for loving and healthy lifestyles. Their programs include Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Families First, Youth & Family Services, Work Crews and more. The Next Door services literally hundreds of families in need. You can see The Next Door volunteers at the Gorge Games where they will staff water stations. Please help promote healthy families in the Gorge and donate today.
Columbia Gorge River Keepers
The Columbia Gorge River Keepers work to restore and protect the water quality of the Columbia River and all life connected to it from the headwaters all the way to the Pacific Ocean . Because of Columbia Riverkeeper efforts, 95 percent less dioxin (chlorine breakdown product) flows into the River today than did 15 years ago. Heavy metal pollution has also decreased significantly due to industry-level technological improvements encouraged by Columbia Riverkeeper. Real accomplishments have been made that have improved the health of the river and saved millions of taxpayer dollars. Columbia River Keepers are volunteering to help coordinate and staff the Gorge Games shuttle program during our event to minimize pollution and traffic congestion. Please help the Gorge Games preserve the quality of the Columbia River and make it safe for athlete’s to compete and families to play, give to Columbia River Keepers today.
Columbia Gorge Earth Center
The Columbia Gorge Earth Center fosters sustainable living practices and promotes the link between ecology, economy, and community in the Columbia Gorge. By fostering sustainable living practices through films and lectures, a reuse business (called the Re-Built it Center), an all organic farmer’s market (the mobile version of which will be located in the Gorge Games Adventure Village), Enviro House Tours, and the promotion of a local currency system – the Columbia Gorge Earth Center is helping improve the lives of residents and guests within the Columbia Gorge community. During the Gorge Games, Columbia Gorge Earth Center volunteers will be staffing recycling centers to help educate the public on how to recycle and compost their waste. Please make a generous donation today to this grassroots organization that cares so deeply about preserving the environment that makes the Columbia Gorge so special.
Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute
The Columbia Gorge Ecology Institute endeavors to promote knowledge, stewardship, and curiosity of the local environment among the people who live, work, and play in the Columbia Gorge through environmental science and educational programs. You can see their amazing work in elementary schools, the Forest Explorers program, and in Summer Camps where kids learn to observe, protect and respect the diverse plants and wildlife of the Gorge. Teaching the next generation to respect, preserve and love our environment is the goal of this organization which will provide volunteer staff at juice and energy drink stations within Adventure Village . They will also provide instruction in our Kid’s Adventure Village in classes like habitat, animal tracking and more. Sign up during the Games and remember to give generously to this worthy organization.
